Help is an extremely intense album. Everything is either hyperactive and spastic or rolls over you like a steamroller. It's a lot like the predecessor album, The Masters Bedroom Is Worth Spending A Night In, but some of the post-punk influenced sound has evolved into a more psychedelic Stooges style wall of sound. Destroyed Fortress Reappears is the highlight of the album, and may be the most crushing thing the band ever recorded, with John Dwyer's monotonous yelps disappearing into a wall of reverb and distortion.
For many, this album becomes the first thing they hear from thee oh sees after which it can't let them go, so this is a good place to start.
Similar sound, heavier, face melting
Floating CoffinSimilar sound but less conventionally structured songs and longer jams
Carrion Crawler/The DreamMore of this sound, real catchy tunes!
