Castlemania

Castlemania represents the goofy side of Thee Oh Sees pretty well. The cover art gives you a good idea of what you're in for. John Dwyer sings many of the songs in a throaty strangely appealing, frog voice. Everything is deliberately sloppy but energetic with flutes, acoustic guitars, harmonicas drifting in and out, the anchor being Dwyer's manic chanting about corpses and ships and dirt.

It's an overlooked gem and has kinship with the fractured psych pop music on Putrifiers II rather than the ominous rumble of Carrion Crawler/The Dream. There's a great deal of variation between tracks and some straddle the line between brilliant and annoying. This is not for everyone, but it's brilliant.

Similar sound, heavier in places!

Putrifiers II

If you liked the sound of I Won`t Hurt You and The Horse Was Lost!

Vol. 2

Similar style, but the sound is cleaner and better in production, more cool songs!
